Iana Povysheva
Creator. Visionary. Artist.
I would like to introduce myself, my name is Iana Povysheva, and I’m an artist.
I was born and raised in Donetsk, Ukraine; as a child I was drawn to everything that was art. I could spend days drawing, painting, trying to create something out of thin air. Most kids with time leave art behind, it becomes a distant memory, but I couldn't, even when I attended Law school, I kept painting.
Art was always my home away from home, the place where fantasy and reality would meet, giving birth to something more than just paint on canvas, something that would exist on this earth much longer than I.
That is why I moved to St. Petersburg, because the atmosphere and architecture that was combined in one amazing and historical city had the greatest influence on me as an artist. I studied classical painting, and with time as all artists began to find my own way, my own style. I love experimenting with various techniques and materials, which can be seen in my latest series which explores shapes on canvas via the use of fabric.
I have worked with various designers over the years, helping complete their visions for their clients, and I was published in Elle Decoration magazine.
